Today we’re sharing SIX fail-safe outfit ideas, along with some key styling tips to help you rock your faux leather leggings and pants. I also wanted to make sure you have options for different events…everything from running errands to coffee dates to dinner. In all of these looks, I’m wearing two faux leather pieces (leggings and pants) from Spanx that are SO good. And the best part? Even their best sellers (which never go on sale) are 20% and other select styles have even deeper discounts. Huge thank you to Spanx for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

How To Style Faux Leather Leggings

First, we need to talk about the most important piece for pulling off the leather leggings look…which is having the right pair of leggings. I’m wearing the Faux Leather Fleece-Lined Leggings, which are so popular that you probably already have them in your closet! But if not, make sure you grab them now while they’re on sale (for $88!). These leggings have built-in shapewear creating the smoothest and most flattering look around the tummy. This exact pair is also fleece-lined, which makes them a must-have for those of you who live in cold climates! They also have no center seam which means no dreaded camel-toe. If you don’t need the fleece-lining for extra warmth, you could also try the regular Faux Leather Leggings. The Faux Leather Fleece-Lined Leggings are so good that they are likely to sell out, so definitely try the regular Faux Leather Leggings if that happens! Both leggings run long so if you’re petite, get the petite version in your normal size. I’m wearing a Petite Small and I’m 5’4”. The petite has a 28” inseam, the regular has a 30” inseam, and the tall has a 32” inseam.

Look #1) Long Sweater

The first (and easiest) way to style your faux leather leggings is with a long sweater. I prefer the length to cover my bum. It makes me feel more comfortable for sure and I think overall it looks more elegant, but you can wear whatever hemline sweater you feel most comfortable in. This sweater is pre-layered and has a flattering rounded hem that’s longer in the front and back for extra coverage. To complete the look, I threw on a pair of edgy moto boots (water resistant), a black handbag, and minimal accessories. You could wear this look running errands or for many casual activities.

Key Style Takeaway: Wear a long body-skimming sweater that covers your bum for an easy, casual, flattering look.

Look #2) Duster Cardigan

I love the versatility of a duster cardigan. I paired this black, ribbed cardigan with the same Spanx faux leather leggings and the Spanx Suit Yourself Long Sleeve Thong Bodysuit. This bodysuit is a great layering basic that keeps your look streamlined and not bulky. The bodysuit fabric is super smoothing, it has a flattering v-neckline, and it’s not see-through so you can wear it on its own or layered underneath something.

It runs true to size, I’m wearing a size Small. Since the bodysuit is so fitted, I wanted to add a 3rd layer for more coverage. The length and color of the sweater definitely has an elongating effect. You can leave the cardigan open or button it up around the tummy to define the waist…it’s really up to you and your comfort level. I think wearing it open is a little more risque, and buttoned more conservative. This is again pretty casual…perfect for errands like lunch, school pickups, or a coffee run. It’s also quite modern and edgy.

Key Style Takeaway: DO try a 3rd layer to add more coverage and to create an elongating effect.

wrap coat with leather leggings

Look #3) Wrap Coat

If a cardigan isn’t enough warmth for you during the frigid winter months, throw on a gorgeous wrap coat! Adding this black wool-blend wrap coat instantly elevates the look, adds bum coverage, and creates and defines the waist. You can still see the faux leather leggings on my bottom half, which along with the moto boots, definitely adds edge to the look.

Key Style Takeaway: Your coat is a key style component to any look!

Sweater & Puffer outfit

Look #4) Sweater & Puffer

Where are my dog walkers?? Chris and I alternate walking our golden retriever, Traveler, and I’m always looking for grab-and-go dog walking looks. This look above is a go-to for me. I’m wearing the same Spanx faux leather leggings with sneakers, a pullover sweater, and a sporty puffer. Underneath the puffer, I’m wearing the AirEssentials Half-Zip pullover that I have in SO many colors. I rave about how much I love this pullover here and here if you want to see me wearing it in different colors and styling it with the matching pants. It’s one of those cozy pieces you can throw on with jeans, lounge pants, or leggings for a casual, comfy look. The fabric is super soft on the skin, wrinkle-resistant, comfortable, and lightweight. I love this half zip…it’s very chic, you can zip or unzip it as much as you want.

Key Style Takeaway: Have some go-to casual outfit ideas at the ready for working out and walking.

How To Style Faux Leather Pants

Maybe you already have the faux leather leggings and want something just a little more elevated? These Spanx Leather-Like Flare Pant are definitely modern and very flattering! The faux leather looks so luxe, the fabric has some stretch but not too much stretch, and they have the same core shaping technology as the leggings. I really love the flared leg silhouette because it’s flattering for my body shape and it makes the pants feel dressier. They’re a pull-on style but have seams that make them look like they have a zipper and pockets. They run a little small. I’m wearing a Petite Small, but could also probably be happy in the medium. The petite has a 31.5” inseam, the regular has a 34” inseam, and the tall has a 36” inseam. The 31.5” inseam is perfect for me with heels. I’m 5’4” for reference.

Look #5) Sweater, Puffer & Sneakers

First, I want to show you a way to style your flared faux leather pants casually. In this look, I’m wearing a pretty, cashmere, pre-layered sweater with lace details. Adding a sweater with a cozy knit fabric instantly makes the look feel more casual. Next, I threw on a super cool, and trendy oversized faux leather puffer. Lastly, I added a pair of platform sneakers to really lean into the casual, sporty feel.

Key Style Takeaway: Style leather pants with soft textures like knits, quilting, etc., to create a more casual look.

Blazer & Booties with flared pants

Look #6) Blazer & Booties

This is a dressier option for the faux leather pants that would be perfect for dinner, an office party, or an event. I’m wearing the pants with a denim blazer, black cami, and black booties. The blazer has shoulder pads and is tailored at the waist. That shape, along with the flared silhouette of the pants, creates a coveted hourglass shape and a more defined waist. You could also style these pants with a different blazer, a cropped jacket, or even a beautiful poncho or cape. On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of pointed-toe, elegant, black booties to keep the legs looking long and lean.

Key Style Takeaway: When styling flared pants, DO try a blazer with structured shoulders to create that coveted hourglass shape.
